The 24th National Press Congress of the Publishers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PAPI) is stated on December 3-6, 2019 in Kalibo and Boracay Island in Aklan.
The annual media event is mandated under Presidential Proclamation 1187 which declares December every year as the Month of the Community Press in the Service of the Nation, and tasks PAPI as lead group for the yearly observance.
PAPI president Nelson Santos and Chairman Emeritus Johnny P. Dayang said the expect some 300 publishers, editors, broadcasters, commentators, columnists, writers, photo journalist, news reporters, and campus journalists as well as government public information officers to participate in the media event. Representatives of some foreign news agencies and press attaches are also expected to attend, they added.
PAPI celebrates this year its 45th year of “fraternal leadership, service to the nation, and responsible media practice advocacy,” according to Dayang who also serves as the event’s conference chairman
Santos and Dayang said discussions during the press congress will revolve around its theme – Media, Environment care, Tourism and LGUs Partnership towards meaningful growth.

The two PAPI officials said their group will also launch their 5-tear agenda of activities during the Kalibo and Boracay event, leading to PAPI’s 50th – year celebration or golden anniversary.
