The Department of Science and Technology Region 02 will launch its new project dubbed as EINSTEIN 1K or Engaging Innovation by Nurturing Significance of Thousand Excellent Ideas in the North on August 27, 2020, 9:00-11:00 AM live via DOST-RO2 Facebook page Live Stream.

EINSTEIN 1K is set to raise the stand of Region 02 in terms of contributed inventions, utility model, industrial design, and trademark.

This new project aims to register 1000 patents which include Utility Model, Industrial Design, Copyright, and Trademark; enthuse researchers and inventors to become Career Scientist Applicants; institutionalize reward system for approved IP policies, and create spin-off companies by mainstreaming of Industry 4.0 and SETUP 2.0.

DOST-RO2 Director Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang said that this new project is not just only to put the picture of Region 02 in the innovation arena but as well as to create a sustainable synergy among the project-partners in nurturing the R&D ecosystem in the countryside.

The launching will be done virtually through DOST 02 signing a Memorandum with the Property Office of the Philippines, Philippine Chamber of Commerce Industry, Cagayan State University, Batanes State Colleges, Nueva Vizcaya State University, University of La Salette-Santiago City, St. Mary’s University, St. Paul University of the Philippines, University of St. Louis, and Quirino State University.

This will also be attended by Prof. Fortunato T. de la Pena, DOST Secretary, Ms. Bernadeth L. Nazareth-Manzano, DOST-Undersecretary for Regional Operations, Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang, DOST-RO2 Regional Director, Atty. Rowel S. Barba, IPOPHL General Director, Dr. Alfonso R. Simon, BSC President, Dr. Urdujah A. Tejada, CSU President, Dr. Ricmar P. Aquino, ISU President, Dr. Hermenegildo F. Samoy, Jr., QSU President, Dr. Andres Z. Taguiam, NVSU President, Rev. Fr. Renillo H. Sta. Ana, CICM, USL President, and Hon. Cloyd C. Velasco, PCCI RO2 Governor.
